State Department Denies Request for Delay by Transcanada on Keystone

KeystoneOn Wednesday, just 48 hours after TransCanada made a request to the State Department to delay its review of the Keystone Pipeline plans, the Obama administration announced that its review would continue. The nearly 1,200 mile long pipeline designed to transport oil from Canada through Nebraska to existing pipelines in the U.S. has been a political wedge issue between the parties in Washington.  President Obama and the Democratic presidentail candidates are firmly against the Keystone project, while the Republican candidates fully support it.  Some report that TransCanada wanted the delay so the issue could be addressed again in a new administration.
