Bring in the Drones

It isn't Skynet (yet), but drones have begun to impact the construction industry like never before. Companies are using unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for site surveying, safety inspection, and even construction documentation. Armed with thermal cameras, drones can even visualize and measure energy loss in structures, giving users better data as they prepare to renovate buildings to be more energy efficient.

Although the United States is somewhat behind counterparts in Europe and Asia in the usage of drones because of regulatory issues, those familiar with the process foresee that being solved in the near future once the online registration for drones is fully up and running.
